Poetry Editing Course Praise
“This is a lovely, affordable introductory course! Shelly is a fabulous teacher. They are personable, funny, and very supportive and upbeat. I loved listening to their voice. They are clearly very experienced, and I felt that the information was factual and to a high standard.
I loved their example poems; they made me laugh! The editing checklists will remain in my arsenal because they are so helpful and clear. And certainly it was great to see the real-time editing. I also loved that a video for writers and a video for editors were both included so that each person can see and learn from what the other person is focusing on.
As a fellow poetry editor, it was also helpful to see how another editor approaches poetry editing, so this class is relevant to all. The greatest thing that this course and Shelly showcase is to always be gentle and in service of the poem–both as a writer and as an editor.
This is the foundational advice I would offer, too, and Shelly nailed it! Thanks so much for a fabulous course! Highly recommended to both beginning and seasoned poets and poetry editors–and just for the cost of a couple of coffees!” – Maresa W, editor & poetry author.
“Shelly’s Poetry Editing course has proven so helpful. I’ve been looking at branching into editing poetry, but I wasn’t sure where to start… until I found Shelly. The guidance and advice is perfectly pitched to both writers and editors. Thank you!” – Heather P, Bowland Editorial
